Santa Marta- El Mamey – First Campsite
9 am start from Santa Marta- El Mamey in a jeep, three hours. From El Mamey, Walk uphill until first campsite. Swim in natural pools.
Second Camp site
Breakfast at 7 then leave at 9. Descend into Buritaca valley. Indigenous village of Mutanyi. Three hour walk to campsite. Swim to cool off.
Walk to the City
Breakfast at 6:30. Leave at 7, through sections of the indigenous reservation of the Kogui – Arsario people and the Sierra Nevada national park. Cross Buritaca river to arrive at La Ciudad Perdida. Approximately six hours of walking.
Explore the Lost City
Breakfast at 8. Leave at 9. Learn about how the pre-Hispanic Tayronas adapted to their environment. Opportunity to see the ceremonial houses of the present day descendants of the Tayronas. Bathe in the fountain of youth. Guide will explain archaeological significance of the region.
Back down the mountain
Breakfast at 6.30. Depart at 7. Lunch at Mutanyi cabin then continue to first camp site.
El Mamey-Santa Marta
Final breakfast at 7. Leave at 8. Walk for around 3 hours. One hour rest at El Mamey. Drive to entrance of park, have a snack then continue to Santa Marta, arriving at approximately 4pm.
